Although I was born and raised in Lansing, the capital of Michigan,
my heart and soul always longed for the tranquility and magnificent
beauty found in Northwestern Lower Michigan, the Traverse City
area to be more precise. I am a mother of 3 beautiful girls and
now 6 grandbabies. I have been living in Tampa Bay Florida since 2007.
My brush first touched a canvas over 19 years ago. My acrylic
paintings, on unframed canvas, find their inspiration from the
sandy shoreline along the northwest coast of Northern Lower Michigan
or perhaps from the silence of the lush, green forests with it's
tall hardwoods and pine trees. I try to capture the feel of a
breeze upon your cheek as if you are standing atop a dune, the
sound recalled as the waves kiss the shore, the melody of the
songbirds and the scavenging seagulls circling overhead (there
are always 3 gulls in my paintings, symbolic of my 3 girls). Your
senses will recall the smells of the earth after a cloud burst
or the way a tiny cabin looks nestled in the hillside, smoke billowing
from it's chimney on a chilly autumn morning.
I am a "self-taught" painter capable of capturing the emotions
felt from resources of photographic composites or perhaps a vision
tucked within the corners of my mind transforming the images into
an expressive artistic treasure you will long cherish.
My passion for my craft is fueled by the majesty of the tall,
guardian lighthouses of the region, the Pt Betsie is often a requested
favorite, the shoreline, a classic car in a nostalgic setting
or perhaps a view from the top of a snow capped mountain. Let
me capture the memories of your vacation in the little cabin nestled
in the pines beside a babbling brook. Michigan has 4 seasons …. I
paint all of them! There is always something beautiful to capture in Florida, especially at the beaches.
I often incorporate a favorite cliché, quote or personal message
written within the painting if you choose at no extra charge.
